RULES & REGULATIONS FOR RESIDING IN THE HOSTEL OF MEDICAL UNIVERSITY
Accommodation
Every medical college or university have 5-10 hostels. The hostels of the university can easily accommodate more than 2000-5000 students. The hostels are generally fully furnished and have attached bathroom and toilets.
Medical University hostels generally have separate arrangements for boys and girls. Hostels are generally provided with 2 to 3 big common rooms, with facilities such as central A/C, beddings, shower, washroom, washbasin, security guards, reception, laundry, cleaning and washing personnel, reading rooms, etc.
The rules and regulations for residing in the hostel
The following rules and regulations for residing in the hostel of the Medical University have been made and approved under the signature and stamp of the Rector of Medical University. The rules and regulations for the foreign students for residing in the hostel of Medical University are as follows:
I. GENERAL REGULATIONS OF HOSTEL
• The students taking admission in medical universities must live in the hostel provided by that Medical University.
• Medical University administration holds the right to shift a student to any other room as per its own decision.
• The representatives of the Medical University hold the right to check-up the rooms and other premises to keep up the discipline.
• Things allotted to students for his room and for his personal use are the responsibility of the student and students have to sign an abiding note about it.
• Male students are placed in the male-blocks.
• Female students are placed in the female-blocks.
• Anyone, who is not a resident of the hostel, will be allowed to enter the hostel only with the permission of the hostel administration. For entering into the hostel, a visitor needs to submit his passport or any other identity document for registering in the visitor's book. The visitor should keep the rules of the hostel regulations and the student who invite the visitor, is responsible for that. They should ensure that the visitor should leave the hostel in time.
• If a student is expelled (debarred) from Medical University he should vacate his room within 7 days of issuing the order.
• Only with due permission of the hostel administration any cultural or mass activity can be organized in the hostel.
• Birthday parties can be held with the permission of the hostel administration.
II. RIGHTS OF THOSE WHO LIVE IN THE HOSTEL
• The students have right to live in the hostel on condition of obeying the rules of the hostel.
• The students have the right to use the belonging of hostels for individual and general use with the permission of the hostel administration.
• The students have the right to demand repairing or replacement of the equipment, furniture, beddings or other hostel belongings if required.
III. DUTIES OF THOSE WHO LIVE IN THE HOSTEL
Every student should submit the key to the room to the Warden of the Hostel when they goes out of town for more than 10 days. The Warden of the Hostel is responsible for safely keeping the student's belongings. The students should:
• Get aquatinted with the rules of the hostel regulations
• Get aquatinted with the rules of vacating the hostel
• Get aquatinted with the instructions regarding how to use the electrical equipment, video and audio equipment
• Get aquatinted with the instructions regarding fire safety
• Keep the rules of the hostel regulations, safety arrangements and fire safety
• Treat the property of the hostel carefully
• Compensate the damage in case any damage is done to the hostel by the student
• Not waste electricity, gas and water
• Inform the warden of the hostel of all the problems regarding water-supply, energy supply and heating system immediately
• Keep the rooms clean and tidy and clean the rooms everyday
• Not enter the hostel after 10 p.m. If a student wants to leave the hostel after 10 p.m. for any reason, he/ she must obtain the permission of the medical university administration.
• Inform the hostel administration two days before for leaving the hostel for holidays or for any other reason
• Return everything related to the hostel property to the warden of the hostel if a student vacates the hostel due to any reason.
Students staying in the hostel must not:
• Smoke or keep cigarettes and tobacco items
• Consume alcoholic drinks or keep them
• Fight with one another
• Steal anything
• Change his room without permission of Hostel administration
• Carry the things from one room to another without permission of Hostel administration
• Misuse the room
• Allow anyone to stay in his room, who is not permitted to live in that room
• Change or repair the electricity wiring
• Use microwaves ovens, room heaters etc. as per fire safety
• Leave the garbage near the doors of the rooms, on stairs and in passages
• Sing, make noise or use the radio and TV sets after 11 p.m.
• Stick advertisements, time-tables, pictures on the walls for general use without prior permission of the hostel administration
• Hang out advertisements in foreign languages without officially attested translation and without prior permission of the hostel administration
• Give a key of a room to any strangers or visitors without official permission of Hostel Administration
• Keep domestic animals in the room
If a student breaks any of the above rules, one of the following actions can be taken against the student:
• Warning
• Room Change
• Debarring (Expelled) From Medical University
