Georgia has deep history that spans about three centuries. The territory of the modern day, Georgia was ruled by Colchis and Kartli-Iberia. In the first century AD, Georgia was ruled by Romans and during that period Christianity became the main religion of the country. Georgia was also dominated by Persians, Arabians and Turkish. In the 19th century, Russian Empire annexed Georgia. From 1918 to 1921, Georgia remained independent and then in 1921 Georgia was forced to incorporate into USSR. On 19th November, 1989 Georgia declared sovereignty and it became independent on 9th April, 1991 when the Soviet Union was dissolved.
